This has become a standard Euro Nymph point fly. A pheasant tail on a jig with a UV ice dub collar and a Coq de Leon tail. This fly will produce year round as a searching pattern, with smaller sizes generally working a bit better in the winter.
I tie this on a 1x short, barbless wide-gape jig hook for a fly that will increase hook-ups and ride point up to significantly reduce snags. These hooks also reduce stress on fish as they are far easier to remove. You have the option of changing the hot spot color on this fly if you prefer. Hot pink and shrimp pink are both very popular.
