This is an excellent imitation for a cased caddis which abound in most trout water year-round. Probably the most important kind of caddis imitation in fly fishing, but often overlooked. Next time you pull a twig out of the water covered in cased caddis, tie on one of these in a size to match.
These flies are tied on barbless, black nickel finished, standard length jig hooks OR barbless, black nickel finished, 1x short, wide gape jig hooks. These hooks ride point up greatly reducing the risk of snagging and are far less stressful on fish during removal.
