4 - Ugly Bugger - Wooly Bugger Jig. Tungsten Streamers. Euro Nymphs. Barbless Trout Flies. Fly Fishing Flies. Black. Olive. White. Rust.
$16.00
Wooly Buggers are likely responsible for landing more first fish than any other fly. This is a jigged version with some added rubber legs and an ice dubbing body with gold wire ribbing. Resembling a number a natural fish food sources found in any kind of aquatic environment, this fly is just as well fished in a still water pond or lake for trout, bass, and panfish as it is in a large river or small mountain stream. This is one versatile fly that is especially good for beginners, but any angler that knows a thing or two will also carry a decent selection of buggers, as well. Swinging a wooly bugger downstream is one of the best ways to teach somehow to start fly fishing! Also very effective as your point fly in a Euro Nymphing rig, dead drifted, and fished in tandem with another streamer or nymph above or below it.
IMPORTANT NOTES: This is tied with a soft hackle collar rather than the traditional, palmered hackle on a wooly bugger. I do this due to the shorter length of the hook shank. I also make the body of the fly with
Ice dub rather than chenille.
I tie this on a barbless, black-nickel finish jig hook for a fly that will increase hook-ups and ride point up to reduce snags. These hooks also reduce stress on the fish as they are significantly easier to remove. I can tie these in sizes #8-#12.
This listing is for 4 flies. Please message me with any questions or custom orders
