This pattern is just a slight variation of Forest Dorsey's midge emerger pattern. This pattern features a thread body, ultra wire ribbing, glass bead, looped flash wings with black ice dubbing. An excellent imitation of an emerging midge pupa. Midges hatch year round, so there should be every stage of the midge life-cycle in your box in a variety of sizes/colors. Try larger sizes (#18) in the spring and summer and smaller (#20-#22) in the fall/winter. This works great as your first fly in the colder months with a midge pupa underneath.
