A small twist on Dorsey's Top Secret Midge pattern. Here, there is a brown thread body, white thread ribbing, brown dubbing and a glamour madeira folded wing. Midges are hatching year-round and during the colder months that will be primarily what many trout are keying in on. The importance of the midge life cycle in trout angling cannot be stressed enough, and every trout angler should own a variety of sizes and colors of the various imitations of life stages. The midge pupa is absolutely critical in fall/winter trout angling and incredibly deadly in the spring/summer months, as well. This will always be my last trailing fly, with one or two slightly flashier bugs in front. I can tie this in sizes #12-22. #12-20 are on barbless, black nickel scud hooks. #22 are barbed, bronze scuds.
