The WD-40 has gained a similar reputation to the RS2: Extremely simple design that crushes highly educated, tailwater trout. This version adds just a bit to it to get their attention (especially in the winter). WD stands for wood duck, which is where the fibers used for the tail and emerging wings comes from. There is a bulging thorax with some pearl flashback as well. This fly works extremely well when fished with no weight in the film when fish are focusing there rather than on adult Baetis. It is equally effective with traditional nymphing techniques.
I can tie this in sizes #14-#22 in a variety of color options. Note that the same color of wood duck fibers will be used on different colors of body/thorax. IMPORTANT HOOK INFO!!! #14-#20 will be on barbless, black nickel scud-style hooks. #22 are BARBED, bronze scud-style hooks.
