This is the same pattern as the CDC Pheasant Tail with most materials swapped out for green, olive or chartreuse. A lead-free wire underbody and black nickel tungsten bead will help this fly get in the strike zone quickly. Dyed olive pheasant tail fibers counter-wrapped with chartreuse ultra wire create the body. The thorax is made from UV Light Olive Dubbing, followed by an olive CDC soft hackle collar. A wonderful jigged BWO imitation that can also pass for caddis. This is a perfect point fly for a tight line or traditional nymph rig that is equally effective dead drifted as it is swung.
I tie this on EITHER a 1x short, barbless wide-gape jig hook in sizes #10-#18 or standard length jig hooks for a fly that will increase hook-ups and ride point up to significantly reduce snags. These hooks also reduce stress on fish as they are much easier to remove.
