This is a jigged version of my favorite scud patterns. Superbly buggy, this fly can wreak havoc in the right places. Scuds are in many types of water, but try fishing this just downstream of sections with a lot of weeds or aquatic plants, where the bugs like to hang out. The shrimp pink color (pictured, kind of an orangey yellow) is my favorite because it can pass as a dead scud or eggs at the right time of year, making it extra fishy. This fly features an antron tail, UV ice dubbing abdomen, silver wire ribbing, and a silver tungsten bead.
These flies are tied on barbless, black nickel finished jig hooks. These hooks tend to ride point up, greatly reducing snags. They are much easier to remove from a fish mouth, reducing stress on the fish.
